7 Takes, Yr. 2013, Vol. 3

--- 1 ---

Hmmmm. Hannabert can escape his crib...when motivated. This happens when he is suppose to be napping or sleeping. He swings open the door and announces, "Hi, how are you?" I love it.

--- 2 ---

Hannabert has been really...interactive. He and his dad met me for lunch yesterday. He helped the staff at the restaurant clean up the floor.
Toddler Planking

Always on the move

Nicely putting back the chips he tried to steal

He LOVES the "mirror" on my phone

--- 3 ---

There was tons of internet reporting that companies had been fined thousands of dollars due to violations of . This isn't actually the case because the provisions of 29 usc 207 (r) do not allow for fines BUT my FOIA request has finally arrived and there have been a number of enforcement actions.

--- 4 ---

I am working insanely early this morning so I can attend a work party with Horn tonight. As in I left last night at 11pm and I am here at 7am. Ugh.

--- 5 ---

As a legal researcher, I do not understand why people get quotation marks and parentheses confused. And then insist that they have used the correct one when I know for a fact that they have not.

--- 6 ---

I am amused that so many people are wedded to the idea of multiple ultrasounds during pregnancy. It is like they forget that they have only been common place for that last 30 years.

--- 7 ---
I feel really lost with Horn not working with me anymore. I feel even more lost that I go almost an entire week without seeing him other than 5 minutes before he heads out the door. I am thankful that I usually get a chance to see Hannabert on Monday and Friday mornings. Here is to finding a new job so I can participate in family life once again.

Potty chair time

Thanks to Ikea*, we have started introducing the concept of a potty to Hannabert.

*By thanks I mean they had the cheapest potty chairs, not that they gave us one to try.

7 Takes, Yr 2013 - Vol. 2

HALO SleepSack SwaddleChange Diaper Pad Covers

We didn't have this gem when Hannabert was little. It would have made diaper changes a lot easier.  Of course, we could have always just used this.

--- 2 ---

To regain control of my ethics class, I have instituted a new rule for my talky-talkers: You may only speak when holding the Talking Fish (well, not exactly like this but this store has a very cute pattern). Class was very smooth.

--- 3 ---
Despite our diaper ritual, The Shirt wearing, and good mojo thoughts, alas, my (husband's) Mighty Irish failed to win the BCS championship game.
Playing like a champion

Played like a champion, sleep like a champion.
Plum Crazy for Cloth Custom Diaper - did not have the desired results but the diaper is great!

Colley Matrix still believes in us.

--- 4 ---

The team believes in itself. The worked hard. They played hard. The fans loved them. They love each other.  The fans will love them next season.

--- 5 ---

In line of how the game ended, we have started introducing Hannabert to "The Potty." Because we both shudder at the thought of spending $30 on a chair, we went to IKEA, where, for a mere $5, we were able to purchase the NEW potty chair. So new, it isn't even on their website!

--- 6 ---

Hannabert has not used said potty but he did poop on the floor which had an IKEA rug on it.

--- 7 ---
Last ND posting.  I met Jeff Samardzija at a bar a few years ago (no, not the time we almost got into an altercation with Jimmy Claussen). I even had my picture taken with him (despite my incredible crush on Tim Zbikowski).

7 Takes, Yr 2013, Vol 1

--- 1 ---
Please remember to pray for those families that are expecting or hoping to expect in 2013.

Please pray for my sister who is expecting a little girl in May. She has epilepsy that requires medication...and stress makes her condition worse...and being pregnant for the first time is stress free...right?

Dearest Mary, I look to you now for the help of your maternal love. You understand my trials as an expectant mother. You bore Jesus in your womb. You know the doubts and anxieties that beset me; you know the bodily suffering I endure. Like you, may I turn all these sorrows into joy. You overcame anxiety by a loving trust in God; you overcame doubt by gentle resignation to His will.
Your motherhood lifted your mind above earth and kept it close to God.
So speak to Jesus now with me, beloved Mother, as I seek prayerfully to learn to bear the trials of motherhood with joy.
Mother of Perpetual Help, Pray for me!

As my brother and sister-in-law work through the long adoption process, please keep them in your prayers

The Lord is faithful in all His words and holy in all His works. The Lord lifts up all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look hopefully to You, and You give them their food in due season; You open Your Hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. The Lord is just in all His ways and holy in all His works. The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear Him, He hears their cyr and saves them. The Lord keeps all who love Him, but the wicked He will destroy.  May my mouth speak the praise of the Lord, and may all flesh bless His Holy Name forever and ever. -- Psalm 145:13-21
God, our Creator, by Your love the world is filled with life, through Your generosity one generation gives life to another, and so are Your wonders told and Your praises sung.
We look to You in our love and in our need: may it be Your will that we adopt a child to share our home and faith.
Loving God, be close to us as we pray to love and do Your will. You are our God, nourishing us forever and ever. Amen.

Jen, who usually hosts the 7 Takes is currently receiving treatment for 2 pulmonary embolisms...while pregnant. Her saint this year is St. Michael. Please keep her and her family in your prayers. And watch her t.v. show
--- 3 ---
Thanks for stepping up and sponsoring 7 Takes this week Hallie!
--- 4 ---
Our daycare is the best! Horn got my virus at work yesterday and, even though Hannabert was dropped off at 7am, they were more than happy to watch him until my work day ended at 11:30pm.
--- 5 ---
Things you don't want to hear your sick husband say, "Can you pick up a mop on your lunch break?"
--- 6 ---
My classes started back this week. There was a near riot in my ethics class. I don't understand what there is to debate over definitions. I had to have a student removed. Next week they get to create their own societies. It should be fun.

Notre Dame plays in the BCS Championship game on Monday. GOOOOOO IRISH!

2013 Goals

2012 was a grand year in our household but I am looking forward to what 2013 will bring our family.

2012 Review

  • Hannabert turned 1.
  • We traveled to the Great Smoky Mountains on several occasions and even managed to camp in a tent on 1 of them.
  • We met family in a cabin for a Memorial Day get-away.
  • Hannaber did his first "solo" hike.
  • Horn got a new job.
Hmmm...that list doesn't look too exciting..

2013 Goals

  • I want our family to be more of a family in 2013. Meaning I want more family time.
  • I want to have more pictures of the 3 of us.
  • I want more pictures of Hannabert and I together.
  • I want to blog more about what maters to me and worry less about what other might think about my blogging topics.
  • I want our family to attend church more often. I don't care if Hannabert is still a toddler, I want him to enjoy church.
  • I want to be healthier.
  • Celebrate our Anniversary by doing something with just each other.
  • Be less jealous and selfish and more giving in our marriage.
  • Travel to MN to visit family - on my own (boo on little vacation for Horn).
